Fun in San Diego this Weekend
by
Cinco de Mayo @ Old Town – Each year thousands flock to Old Town, San Diego’s oldest, historic neighborhood, to take a step back in time and celebrate! The annual Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo will be celebrating 32 years of tradition packed with activities for ALL AGES! Old town will be transformed into the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration north of the border, filled with mariachis, cervezas, great food, and more! This FREE FAMILY-FRIENDLY festival will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Sunday, May 3rd, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The Fiesta will feature four stages with live entertainment, over 40 bands, including vibrant, traditional ballet folklorico performances, lively beer and margarita gardens and of course, Low Rider Lane! Feed your appetite by feasting at over 15 delicious restaurants and tequilerias to enjoy the flavors of the celebration and quench your thirst. How does a specialty margarita sound? Maybe an ice cold cerveza or traditional agua fresco (fresh water), like tamarind, jamaica or horchata!
Street Faire – Carlsbad Village – The Carlsbad Village Faire will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3, 2015. Each year, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce hosts the faire in May and November. Now in its 40th year, the free event has grown to be so popular that it not only continually attracts people from all over Southern California, but also from other states. Some visitors even plan their vacations around the bi-annual event.
“The reason so many people return to the faire every year is that they can count on finding quality items to purchase because of the wide variety of vendors,” said Ted Owen, president and chief executive officer of the Carlsbad Chamber. “You name it and it’s for sale at the faire.”
Flagship Cruise @ San Diego Bay – In celebration of a century on San Diego Bay, Flagship Cruises & Events will host a 100th anniversary party on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 2 to 6 p.m. Guests will enjoy food, drinks and fun aboard Flagship’s fleet of luxury yachts, docked along the newly-remodeled embarcadero at 990 North Harbor Drive. The event is free and open to the public. Highlights of the bash include:
- Live music by acclaimed dance band Sensation and jazz vocalist Celeste Barbier
- Complimentary appetizers
- Local craft beer and wine for sample and purchase
- Local olive oil tastings
- Professional commemorative photos
- Photos and memorabilia from Flagship’s 100-year history
