The Regal and Edwards Summer Movie Express for 2015 has just been released for the full list of movies and starting dates click here.

Regal has just released the schedule for the Summer Movie Express! The movies are all rated G/PG, and are great for kids of all ages. It is only $1 per person to attend! All of the movies begin at 10 AM on Tuesday’s and Wednesdays throughout the summer. Every week there are two different movies playing for you to choose from. The start date for movie theaters vary so I have listed the start dates below the list of movies. If you live outside of California please click here for a full list.

Carlsbad Concerts in the Park – 2014

The City of Carlsbad will host free concerts in the park throughout the summer at different parks in Carlsbad. This is the 29th year of this fun-family event with the City of Carlsbad. NEW this year are the on-site food options, with new vendors with items like hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, barbeque and Fro-Yo! In the past we have always brought our snacks with us but this year maybe we will try out some of the new food options. Bring low-back chairs, a blanket, snacks, and drinks if you would like. Glass is allowed at these events ONLY, wine and beer bottles are okay to bring, they do ask that you recycle.

The second concert at each park has fun things for kids to do as well, it is called Art at Jazz. Art At Jazz offers hands-on visual arts activities for younger TGIF Jazz audience members. Instructors and volunteers guide the children as they make works of art in planned activities.

All concerts are 6 to 8 p.m.

Stagecoach Park

June 27 Kelly Rae Band – country
Led by vocalist Kelly Rae performing female country artists from Patsy Cline to Carrie Underwood, the six-piece group has opened for Melissa Etheridge and is the house band at Disney California Adventure.

July 4 Vaud & The Villains – blues and swing
This 19-piece “New Orleans orchestra and cabaret show” presents a bold range of parlor songs, rags and blues, spirituals and Mardi gras classics, with onstage pageantry that brings 1930s New Orleans to life.

July 11 Mingo Fishtrap – Funk/soul/R&B
Five-time South by Southwest/Austin Music Award winner Mingo Fishtrap mixes punchy horns and deep rhythms with emotive Motown-style soul.

July 18 Susie Hansen Latin Band – Latin/salsa/cumbia
Electric violinist Susie Hansen leads a sizzling, swinging band of all-stars who play traditional salsa, Cuban Charango and Latin-spiced American standards.

This San Diego based international act features Grammy winning musicians, a Billboard hit songwriter and a Chinese Idol finalist. It performs the best in top pop dance hits.

Aug. 1 Nikki Hill – rockin’ soul and blues
Nikki Hill’s raw, powerhouse voice with its Stax soul dynamics and her band, The Pirate Crew, deliver an unfiltered energy that makes the dance floor audience believe in rock and roll again.

Aug. 8 Lost Dog Found – swing
This Bay Area band’s combination of jump blues, Americana, swing, rock, and soul blends the best of Ray Charles, Bruno Mars and Brian Setzer.

Aug. 15 Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca – world dance
With Cuban jams, afro-pop and a little salsa, Lemvo and his group Makina Loca create a seamless blend of rhythmic traditions.

Aug. 22 The Mighty Untouchables – cover dance mix
The Mighty Untouchables are a classy septet playing and singing Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Santana, AC/DC, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Celia Cruz, Earth, Wind & Fire and more.

The 29th season of TGIF Concerts in the Parks has received generous support from the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts. Major support for the Opportunity Drawings, which are organized and conducted by the Friends, comes from Alaska Airlines.

KidsFest San Diego Giveaway

KidsFest is San Diego’s largest hands-on, creative festival for kids and their families. This year KidsFest San Diego will be held at Liberty Station the weekend of May 17-18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. KidsFest 2014 will transform the NTC Ingram Plaza in Point Loma into a wonderland of play, with activities designed to stimulate and celebrate the imagination during the weekend-long celebration!

SoCal Savvy Mom has partnered with KidsFest San Diego for a GIVEAWAY for a family 4-pack of ticekts valued at $80. To enter leave a comment on the blog or on SoCal Savvy Mom’s Facebook page. Everyone’s favorite Hullabaloo, the outrageously popular folk, funk and rock band for kids will be performing this year! Don’t miss out on the fun!

Easter Egg Hunts in San Diego this weekend

Campo @ The Campo Depot – The Bunny Train The long-eared carrot-cruncher returns to Campo with lots of Easter eggs and fun craft activities for the kids. Trains depart Campo depot at 11 a.m. & 2:30 p.m. each day for a scenic one-hour round-trip journey through the mountains with the Easter Bunny. Toddlers 2 & under are $5, children ages 3-12 are $10, teens 13 & over are $15, and seniors (65+) are $12. Advance reservations required for this very popular event. Clairemont @ South Clairemont Recreation Center – Located at 3605 Clairemont Drive the Spring Egg Hunt will take place. Bike decorating beings at 9:00 a.m. and the Parade of Wheels is right after from 10:25 -10:45 a.m. There will be jumpers, popcorn, arts & crafts and tons of fun! The Egg Hunt times are 11:00 a.m. ages 2-4, 11:15 a.m. ages 5-6, 11:30 a.m. ages 7-9, and at 11:45 a.m. ages 10-12. More information may be found here.

Escondido @ Bates Nut Farm – This Saturday begining at 9:30 a.m. start the day with fun Easter crafts at Bates Nut Farm. Ocean Beach @ Robb Field Athletic Area – Located at 2525 Bacon Street, in Ocean Beach, CA the 39th Annual Ocean Beach Spring Egg Hunt will be held. Begining at 10:00 a.m. children ages 1-2, at 10:15 a.m. ages 3-4, at 10:30 a.m. ages 5-6, at 10:45 a.m. ages 7, 8, & 9, at 11:00 a.m. ages 10, 11 & 12, and at 11:15 is all ages. South Bay @ Robert Egger, Sr. Center – The annual Spring Egg Hunt will take place at the South Bay Recreation Center begining at 10:00 a.m. The ages range from toddlers to 10 year olds and be on the look out for the “Special Egg!” Who knows what it will be worth! For more information click here.

Vista @ The Vista Optimist Club – The 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt & All you can eat Pancake and Sausage Breakfast will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 11: a.m. Tickets: $5 at the door and includes breakfast and egg hunt. Pistachios, pecans, cashews, peanuts, pignolias, sunflower seeds and much more can be purchased on the farm. The nuts come raw, roasted, some spiced up and unsalted.
