San Diego Kids Free in October

The San Diego Museum Council is bringing back by popular demand an amazing program for families. Based on its huge success in the first four years, Kids Free in October, is back for a fifth year. Inviting families to enjoy free kids’ admission to more than 40 museums across San Diego County with an adult ticket purchase.

The breakdown:

  • The coupon allows up to TWO CHILDREN 12 and UNDER to get in FREE with one paid adult.
  • The ticket does not apply to special events, special exhibits or field trips.
  • Can not combine with any other promo/discount/coupon/offer.
  • Valid during the month of October only 10/1/17 – 10/31/17.
  • You must provide the PRINTED the coupon, which may be found below.

To take advantage of the offer, download the free coupon from the website for each museum you wish to visit in October.

Visit the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla and see the living tide pools. The U.S.S. Midway is a fun floating museum that children love! One of the most popular in San Diego is the Ruben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park and it too is free for children during the month of October. For the full list of museums participating see below.

Kids at the Del Mar Track

Kids at the racetrack? Are you bringing your kids with you to the races this year? We have taken our son to the races before and it was a fun day for the whole family. There are tons of activities in the infield for kids on weekends called Family Fun Days.  Admission is FREE to children 17 and under and you can purchase an adult ticket as low as $6 (except on opening day). It is very similar to the Del Mar Fair and the kids have a lot of fun. For more information on the Family Fun Day.

The Del Mar Racetrack also has a camp for kids ages 5-12 for $24 per child. Included is lunch, snacks, t-shirt and activities like mini golf, video games, inflatable jump house, air hockey and more. This is a great option especially for out of town guests who can’t find a babysitter. Camp Del Mar opens at noon and closes 30 minutes after the last race. Legoland California was on our bucket list for this summer and we had a great time at the water park yesterday! This special offer is awesome! San Diego Makes Music @ Spreckels Organ Pavilion, Balboa Park at 3:30 PM, enjoy a FREE Concert with members of the Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra & Adult Amateurs Playing Side-by-Side with Festival OrchestraMainly Mozart Festival Orchestra; Michael Francis, conductor.

They are inviting any musician (regardless of skill level) from the San Diego community to participate in this performance by playing along from the audience. The five pieces of music for the general play-along portion of the program can be downloaded from the links below. In these links, you will find three levels of difficulty for each part with the #1 part being Advanced and #3 being the easiest (Beginner). Choose whichever level suits your ability.

Coronado Promenade Concert (CPC) @ Spreckels Park(FREE) The Spreckels Park summer concert series has been a staple of Coronado life for over four decades. Join at 6 PM to enjoy Marine Band of San Diego – Founded in 1921, Marine Band San Diego has thrilled countless audience members through a schedule of appearances averaging nearly 400 per year. Established to support the Marines’ Recruit Training Regiment, the band also performs a wide variety of military and civilian events throughout the Southwest. They are a perennial favorite of Coronado Concerts in the Park audiences.
