Miramar Air Show, September 30 – October 2.  Admission, parking and blanket seating are FREE. Blanket seating means an open paved area where you may stand or sit on blankets or lawn chairs. Saturday, October 1

Octoberfest anyone?  There are a few different Octoberfest celebrations going on this weekend in San Diego.

The Carlsbad Rotary Club is hosting Octoberfest at the Holiday Park from noon to 10 p.m.  There will be pumpkin decorating contests, obstacle courses, face painting, animal balloons, a magician, and live music.  For more information on Carlsbad Octoberfest click here.

 

La Mesa Octoberfest will be held starting September 30 and run through October 2.  There are over 400 booths, 2 beer gardens, delicious food, live music and carnival rides.  For more information on La Mesa Octoberfest click here.

 

El Cajon Octoberfest will be held starting September 30 and run through October 2.  Come out and see some traditional folk dancing performances, compete in games and contests, check out vendors and craft booths, and treat your kids the Kids’ Zone they will love it.  For more information on El Cajon Octoberfest click here.

Sunday, October 2

Free Family Art Day, Oceanside Museum of Art.  The Oceanside Art museum is a wonderful place to take the entire family, and it is FREE!  Kids and parents can also participate in making art.  Healthy refreshments will be served, for more information click here for the event website.

Carlsbad Restaurant Row Grand Opening.  Face painting and balloons for the kids, Steel Drum band from noon to 4, and Light Jazz from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  There are tons of giveaways including gift cards to P.F. Chang’s, BJ’s, King’s Fish House, Corner Bakery, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, and from Pretty Please Fashion.  The even runs from Saturday October 1 to Sunday October 2, stop by for the grand opening!

 

Fun Things to do this Weekend Sep. 23-25

Friday, September 23

The Carlsbad Music Festival is held Friday through Sunday in the Village.  This is the 8th year for the festival and Friday evening starts it off with the fun, and free Village Music Walk.  Saturday and Sunday the concerts are $15 or you may purchase the Festival Pass for $60 which allows you to enjoy all the concerts.  For more information visit the event website here.

Leo Carrillo Film Festival, at Leo Carrillo Park in Carlsbad.  Bring a picnic dinner, low back chairs, blankets and enjoy this great movie from the 1930′s.  This is the last event in this movie series the movie playing tonight is Frontier Badmen.  The grounds open at 5 and the movie starts promptly at sunset, for more information click here.

Saturday, September 24

Oceanside Harbor Days, this fun-filled event is Saturday and Sunday.  With tons of activities for kids and adults we love this family event!  Stop by on Saturday and see the Karate Kids, or the Poly Dance team perform, you will also not want to miss any one of the 6 bands playing both Saturday and Sunday.  This is a free event, visit the event website for more information.

The Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon Del Mar, this even was scheduled a couple of weeks ago but had to be postponed.  This is a fun event for pet lovers!  The dog and owner will participate in 20 minute heats based on the dogs weight class.  The dogs will be judged on their ability to ride the wave, and staying on their boards.  For more information visit the event website here.

 

 

 

20 Lounge in Cardiff event tonight!

20 Lounge Boutique Nail Bar in Cardiff is hosting a Chic & Cheap event tonight from 5:30-8:30.  The event will  debut the new menu and all guests will be entered into a raffle for one of many luxuary retail items.  Stop by for a complimentary mini brow or nail treatment, enjoy a glass (or two) of champange, be one of the first 50 guests and receive a luxury goodie bag!  This event is a free event however you must RSVP here.    Enjoy!

Are you the Total Woman?  Nominate a friend, sister, mother, or even yourself to be the Total Woman of the Year!  Total Woman Gym & Day Spa is offering the winner a FREE fitness and spa membership for a year!  There will be 11 lucky women chosen, one at each of their locations.  The winner will receive one-year of unlimited access to the gym plus one spa service per month.  I was lucky enough to visit the Encinitas location Tuesday for a tour and massage.  Walking into Total Woman Gym & Day Spa feels like walking into a spa not a gym, it is peaceful with the slight aroma of lavender. When you think of a gym typically you do not think beautiful, however this is not  just a gym it is a gym and spa for WOMEN.  The first thing that struck me is obviously there were no men, but more than that they really built this gym for women.  More of the machines we use regularly and all the machines are calibrated for a woman’s body.  There is a full Pilates studio with three reformers, an ARC trainer similar to an elliptical, but with better results in less time.  There is also a full list of classes from belly dancing to yoga, and unlike most gyms these classes are held everyday.

Fun Things to Do this Weekend!

I know it is still the beginning of the week but there are so many fun things going on this weekend I couldn’t wait until Friday to share them all with you!  I will come out with my full list of things to do on Thursday/Friday as usual but wanted to give you a heads up on some fun and free events you do not want to miss this weekend!

Saturday, September 17

Bressi Ranch Village Center is having a grand opening with tons of free things for the kiddos from noon to 4 p.m.  The first 200 customers to show up will receive tote bags filled with merchant gifts and coupons, and everyone can enter to will one of five $100 shopping sprees.  The free family fun includes face painting, balloon sculptures, performances by the Boys & Girls Club Band, and free train rides. Virtu Boutique in Carlsbad is hosting a 90’s theme cocktail party with free food and drinks.  Free slap bracelets, (yes, they still make those) costume contest, and a FREE $10 CREDIT if you RSVP. Family Movie night at Stagecoach Park in Carlsbad.  We are so excited to bring our son to see E.T. for the very first time at this fun and free family event!  The fun starts at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m., bring low-back chairs, blankets, and picnic dinner.  There is a fun zone for kids, activity wristbands are required to participate and will be available for purchase at the event for $5 each.
