20 Kids and Counting… Michelle Duggar is at it again!

by

WOW!  That is really all I can say, wow!  Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are having another child.  I think TLC has had to change the name of the TV show 4 times now.  This apparently is the longest Michelle has ever gone (20 months) without getting pregnant.  They thought the days of dirty diapers was behind them, however they are thrilled with the news.  The reason they keep having babies is due in part to her first pregnancy, she lost the baby.  They then decided it was up to God to decided how many children they should have.   Mr. & Mrs. Duggar have not used any form of birth control since before their first child was born over 23 years ago.  I can somewhat understand their reasoning behind no birth control and leaving it up to God, I just wonder when enough is enough?  Are they really overjoyed at this news?   I know some people don’t believe they should keep having children, I believe the decision is theirs and theirs alone to make.  How would I know if 20 is too many children for them?  I know it would be too many children for my family, but then again I’m raising an only child.  Will 30 Kids and Counting be coming next?

Only Child… Are you okay with that?

by

Do you have children?  Yes.  How many children do you have?  One.  Do you plan on having more?  No.

When meeting someone new especially another mom these are the questions most of us ask.  What I do not understand is why it is okay to ask…  Why are you not planning on having more children?  That is a personal question between my husband and myself.  Nonetheless, I do respond to the question.  What I really feel like I’m doing is defending us for only having one child.

My husband is an only child, he loved being an only child.  To this day he still says being an only child made him more creative, which lead to him being a graphic designer.  I on the other hand grew up with two brothers one older and one younger.  One of my brothers is 5  years older, with the age difference we didn’t play together too much.  My other brother is 2 years younger, and we did almost everything together growing up.   I am somewhat sad my son will never know the bond between siblings.  Then my husband reminds me of sibling rivalry drama.  His mother is one of four sisters and honestly I can never remember which sister isn’t talking to the other.  One week we can’t talk to this aunt and the next it is a different aunt.

Family drama aside having one child enables us to travel more, our son had a passport at 8 months old. I know families with 5 kids and they travel, but for us buying plane tickets for that many children would be out of the question. Obviously we have other reasons for only having one child, the reasons however are very personal.  I just wish I didn’t have to defend our decision, time and time again.

Are we the only couple with one child?  And are you okay with that?

by

Are you the Total Woman?  Nominate a friend, sister, mother, or even yourself to be the Total Woman of the Year!  Total Woman Gym & Day Spa is offering the winner a FREE fitness and spa membership for a year!  There will be 11 lucky women chosen, one at each of their locations.  The winner will receive one-year of unlimited access to the gym plus one spa service per month.  Walking into Total Woman Gym & Day Spa feels like walking into a spa not a gym, it is peaceful with the slight aroma of lavender. When you think of a gym typically you do not think beautiful, however this is not  just a gym it is a gym and spa for WOMEN.  The first thing that struck me is obviously there were no men, but more than that they really built this gym for women.  More of the machines we use regularly and all the machines are calibrated for a woman’s body.  There is a full Pilates studio with three reformers, an ARC trainer similar to an elliptical, but with better results in less time.  There is also a full list of classes from belly dancing to yoga, and unlike most gyms these classes are held everyday.

Visit the Total Woman Gym & Day Spa website to nominate someone special to be the Total Woman of the year.  Today only they will be randomly giving away an iPod to someone who nominates a Total Woman!  After nominating someone you will receive a free two-week membership ($50 value) to use at any of the locations.  With a dozen convenient locations in California there is sure to be one close to you.  The convenient locations are in Brea, Encinitas, Glendale, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Mission Valley, Northridge, Placentia, Studio CIty, Torrance, Westlake Village and Woodland Hills.
