Buy local this shopping season with ThinkEco2

by

The holidays are upon us!  There are only 42 shopping days left until Christmas this year!  Have you started your shopping yet?  In years past I was way ahead of the game this year however not so much.  I wanted to share with everyone an amazing local company Think Eco 2.  Think Eco 2 was started locally in San Diego by Jules Lavallee and Brian Behncke.  One of the reasons they founded the company in San Diego was because they want to build jobs locally.

Take a look at the unique handmade eco-friendly gifts. I of course being the wine lover that I am couldn’t believe all the great wine racks they offer.  The handmade wine racks are made from 100% recycled cedar….wait they had me at wine racks!  There are also liquor gift boxes, and garden planters and more. All of the products are made from 100% recycled cedar. They are everything we love modern, trendy, rustic, vintage and of course made in the USA.

We love the planter boxes and you may plant with anything, we especially love them filled with succulents, perfect for indoor or outdoor.  It truly is the perfect for a gift for anyone!  For more information on this great local company or to purchase some of these amazing products see the full line of Think Eco 2 here.

Fitness Magazine Event – Fit Blog LA

by

photo-7Last week SoCal Savvy Mom was apart of the Fitness Magazine event Fit Blog LA.  There were incredible speakers like Tony Horton creator of P90X, he talked about his fitness routines.  If one day he does upper body the next day will be lower body, he loves changing it up and for his down day he loves doing yoga.  The number one thing he said people don’t do is get enough sleep, it is the time your body needs to heal.

The next speaker was Alyse Levine R.D. to talk about the issues we all have with food.  She spoke about ditching food rules and just eating what you love.  Now that doesn’t mean eat a cheeseburger and french fries everyday but every once in a while its okay!  Eat it and enjoy it and don’t tell yourself “I can’t eat this again for months” because that is one of those rules we tell ourselves.  When we eat junk food it is almost like a little secret we don’t want to admit to ourselves.  Eat what you love and be aware of what you are eating and why you are eating.  Am I really hungry?  Or do those cookies just look really good?

photo-9After the first two speakers we were invited to go downstairs to visit with all the sponsors of the event.  First we went to the Saucony booth to check out the awesome new Guide7 that is so new it isn’t even in stores yet!  Saucony is an amazing company because of all of the science that goes into their shoes, yes science.  The new Guide7 really is every runners dream shoe for so many reasons, and we love this shoe!

photo-14Did you know Roxy makes workout clothes?  Well now you do!  Check out my new Roxy pants and top, not only are they incredibly comfortable but great for working out!  I took a hike in Torrey Pines with my new Roxy clothes and Saucony shoes and felt incredible the entire time.  Some of my other favorite items were the Oakley sunglasses, CamelBak water bottle, Dermalogica samples, Murad lightening serum and many many more! Thank you to Fitness Magazine for including SoCal Savvy Mom in the Fit Blog LA event!

‘Tis most splendid at Medieval Times

Dark Rider Battle

My Lord, my Lady…. A page torn from the script of Downton Abby?  No, this is how you are welcomed at Medieval Times!  SoCal Savvy Mom was invited to be a guest at Medieval Times last week at the Buena Park location.  This was our first visit and had no idea what to expect, kids were beyond excited before we even arrived.  Once we walked in the kids were amazed, it was like we had entered into a new land.  First you are given the color of your Knight accompanied by a crown of matching color, ours was the blue Knight.  Next, you are invited to take a picture with the beautiful princess, the Knight is trying to win her hand.

After the picture you are invited to enjoy a glass of wine, beer or other non-alcoholic drinks at one of the bars.  We bought a bottle of wine to share which was very reasonable at only $20.  If you so choose you may have your son (or yourself) Knighted by the King for an extra fee.  We walked over to the stables to see the beautiful horses that are used in the tournament.  Once the dinner tables have been set, you are led to your table via the color of your Knight.  It is really fun to sit in a section all cheering for the same Knight to win his princess.  We were a little worried the kids wouldn’t eat the food, there being no utensils and the main corse includes a chicken leg.  For my son this just made more fun!

Medieval Times is celebrating 30 years by giving away 4 tickets everyday for a year!  To enter just visit the Medieval Times Facebook page here to enter, you must enter everyday to be in the drawing.  Good luck!
