Easter Egg Hunts on March 28 & 29, 2015

Campo – The Bunny Trains and associated events run on Saturday, March 28, Sunday, March 29, and Saturday, April 4 at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking the links above or in person the day of the event at the Campo Depot. Advance reservations are required for this event.

Clairemont – Spring Egg Hunt at the South Clairemont recreation center, on 3/28/15 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, egg hunts begin at 9:30 a.m. and are divided by age group. Enjoy jumpers, arts & crafts, popcorn and punch, for more information click here. (see page 11)

Ocean Beach – Spring Egg Hunt is on March 28th at Robb Field Athletic Area (see page 12)

San Elijo Hills – The BUNNYPALOOZA will begin at 9:30am and run until 11:30 am on 3/28/15. They will have the Egg Hunt at 10:00 am sharp! Please do not be late if you plan on participating.

San Diego – Allied Garden Spring Egg Hunt held on 3/28/15 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be crafts, jumpers, fun for the kids and food available for purchase. The egg hunt times are set by age, at 11:30 a.m. 2 years and younger, at 12:30 p.m. 3 & 4 year olds, children 5 to 7 at 1:00 p.m., and 8 years and older at 1:30 p.m. City of San Diego’s website here.

South Bay – Spring Egg Hunt will have arts & crafts, raffles, games and prizes. Egg hunt will be dived into age groups. Don’t forget to bring a basket. Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Valley Center – Easter Egg Hunt at Bates Nut Farm will have Easter fun for the whole family! Crafts, games, farm animals, raffles and more! The day starts at 9:30, and the Easter Egg Hunt begins at 10:30. Pony rides will be available for a small charge from 9:30 – 12:00. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for pictures throughout the day.

Vista – The Easter Egg Hunt and Pancake breakfast will be on Sunday, March 29th. Tickets for the event are only $5, for $5 you will receive the delicious pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon as well as the Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. The Easter Egg Hunt begins at 10 a.m. with over 10,000 eggs~! The event is for children 11 years old and younger, don’t forget to bring your baskets or a bag with you. Kids Day at the Carlsbad Flower Fields

Join SoCal Savvy Mom at the Carlsbad Flower Fields for Kid’s Day! It is a day full of fun activities for kids, including arts and crafts, face painting and Ronald McDonald! There also is a Sweet Pea Maze, Santa’s Playground and live music.

In addition, Star Theatre Company’s Academy Show Choirs will perform live. They will feature some of the most popular songs of the year. You won’t be able to keep from clapping to Pharrell Williams “Happy”, Frozen’s “Love is an Open Door and “What Does the Fox Say?”

The above picture is from a few years ago my son, niece and some friends children on the wagon ride, which is an additional charge but it is very worth it, the kids loved it. There are more fun things for kids to enjoy like the Sweet Pea Maze, which my mother-in-law and I got lost in but my son found his way out within a minute. Don’t miss out on the fun Kids Day on March 29th, 2015. The Kid’s Day at The Flower Fields is a day full of fun activities for kids, including arts and crafts, face painting and Ronald McDonald, Santa’s Playground and live music. Summer Movie Express starting June 16, 2015

The Regal Summer Movie Express has just released the list of summer movies for the summer of 2015, the $1 movies will run throughout the summer at select theaters. The movies are all rated PG, and are great for kids of all ages. It is only $1 per person to attend, regardless of age. All of the movies begin at 10 A.M. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer. Every week there are two different movies playing for you to choose from. The start date for movie theaters vary, Regal has just released which theaters will host the Summer Movie Express and when the start date, see below.

The theaters for the 2015 Summer Movie Express that begin on June 16th are below:

Davis, Escondido, Fresno (Edwards), Fresno (Regal), Indio, Long Beach, Rancho Mirage, Riverside, Sacramento (Regal), Sacramento (UA Arden), Sacramento (UA Laguna), Santa Maria, Ukiah.

We love SusieCakes in La Costa!

SusieCakes is finally coming to San Diego, they are opening their first ever San Diego location in Carlsbad on March 21st. SusieCakes is an all-American, homestyle bakery specializing in you guessed it cakes! The cakes are all made from scratch with a one-of-a-kind taste without any artificial preservatives and flavors found at most grocery store bakeries. All of the recipes are straight from Susie’s grandmothers original 3×5 recipe cards, and believe me you can taste the difference.

Luscious Lemon Cake

We were lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the new store and all of the amazing treats yesterday. Some of the favorites are of course Susie’s Famous Southern Red Velvet, Carrot Cake and my personal favorite the Tropical Coconut Cake. The Coconut cake is a vanilla cake with layers of pineapple accented with coconut filling, and topped with fluffy coconut buttercream and shredded coconut, there are no words for how delicious it was. My mothers favorite cake was the Luscious Lemon, with layers of vanilla cake filled with smooth and tart lemon curd, topped with vanilla buttercream, it was perfection. The lemon cake was a little much for me (although I’m not a lemon fan to begin with) because chemo has killed some of her taste buds I was so happy to find something she really enjoyed. Sweetheart Cookies – Two sugar cookies sandwiched together with rich buttercream

This Saturday is the grand opening of SusieCakes in the La Costa Town Square shopping center, located at 7610 Via Campaniele in Carlsbad, CA. The opening celebration will include complimentary desserts, face painting, balloon artists, and kids coloring contest from 1 p.m. to 4 .m.
