Carlsbad Concerts in the Park – 2014

by

The City of Carlsbad will host free concerts in the park throughout the summer at different parks in Carlsbad.  This is the 29th year of this fun-family event with the City of Carlsbad.  NEW this year are the on-site food options, with new vendors with items like hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, barbeque and Fro-Yo!  In the past we have always brought our snacks with us but this year maybe we will try out some of the new food options.  Bring low-back chairs, a blanket, snacks, and drinks if you would like.  Glass is allowed at these events ONLY, wine and beer bottles are okay to bring, they do ask that you recycle.

The second concert at each park has fun things for kids to do as well, it is called Art at Jazz.  Art At Jazz offers hands-on visual arts activities for younger TGIF Jazz audience members. Instructors and volunteers guide the children as they make works of art in planned activities.

Sun, Surf, Summer & Sunscreen

by

Is that summer knocking at our door? Finally SUMMER is almost here!  Whole Foods knows we all need to stock up on all our skin care needs before the heat waves hit us!  This weekend our local Whole Foods Markets will be having a HUGE sale on products you need.

orion cabo nicOur family is a beach family true and true.  Last weekend we spent both Saturday and Sunday at the beach soaking in the beautiful SoCal sun.  Of course my son was head to toe (no joke) in Burn Out Kids Sunscreen SPF 30.  There are a few reasons I like Burn Out Kids Sunscreen, the first reason is because my son doesn’t put up a big fight every time I try to put it on him.  My son also has very sensitive skin and it is not only chemical-free, petroleum-free, PABA-free but it is also hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, and non-greasy.
burn out

In the past he has hated putting on any type of sunscreen, but he doesn’t mind Burn Out at all.  The reason it works well for our family is because even after a full day at the beach I know my little boy will be completely covered.  My husband uses Think Sport SPF 50+ Sunscreen and the number one reason he uses it is because it stays on even during long surf sessions.  I worry about him having bad effects from the sun that could harm him, which is why I always remind him to use Think Sport when he goes surfing.

As a woman over 30 (just barely) I take my skin care very seriously.  My grandmother was a model her entire life and she always told me use moisturizer, sunscreen, then use moisturizer again.  Those are words I live by!  Did you know the American Academy of Dermatology recommends that everyone, yes EVERYONE wear broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protective factor of at least 30.  Which is why I use a 30 SPF everyday on my face, as well as my body when in the sun.  My favorite sunscreens are any product by Alba Botanica, there is everything from sunscreen to their Very Emollient after-sun care to self-tanners.  Why I love Alba Botanica products are because they are water-resistant, paraben free and fragrance free.  It is also lightweight and made with sunflower seed oils and aloe vera which soften and moisturize your skin while protecting from the sun.

Stop by your local Whole Foods Market this weekend for major savings on all of your favorite sun care products.  To find a Whole Foods Market closest to you click here.

This is a sponsored post, all opinions are completely my own based on my experience with the products mentioned above.
