Del Mar Summer Concert Series (After the Races)

by

If you are planning a trip to the races this season on a Friday or Saturday you are in luck because the Summer Concert Series is right after and FREE with racetrack admission.  If you arrive after the last race you will have to pay the $20 admission for the concert.  The concerts begin shortly after the last race on Friday and Saturday.  The concerts are for all ages however it gets pretty crowded and may be a bit much for little ones, not to mention loud!  There is no seating standing-room only another reason it may not be a great place for kids.

If you plan to hit up any of the concerts check out the schedule for the Pony Express.

The Bar Method…is it for you?

by

A few months ago I decided I was going to get my booty back in shape!  I thought I would make the rounds to all of the local workout places and wanted to share my thoughts and experiences.  I was not paid to write this, I was not given free classes in exchange for writing this, I am in no way affiliated with any of the places I am writing about.  This is part three of my experiences at Xtend Barre by the Sea, Fit in 60, The Bar Method and BodyRok.

The next place I visited was The Bar Method in Bressi Ranch.  There is an amazing deal for first time clients, $10 for 10 days unlimited, amazing I know!  I am actually sad because my 10 days are up and I really loved it. Everyone at The Bar Method is very nice and they really make an effort to get to know their clients.  When you walk in they know your name, and if not they make a point to introduce themselves and really make you feel welcome, this was awesome!  My friend Molly lives really close and so we did a lot of classes together which is always fun to have a friend to work out with.  She took one class with me at Xtend Barre By the Sea, and she couldn’t believe how hard it was.  For some reason we both thought The Bar Method brought it to the next level.  As if doing crunches were not hard enough try putting a ball between your legs, squeeze the ball and then do crunches, were they trying to kill me?  Also the pretzel is pretty much the hardest move thing I think I’ve ever done, the stretch after hurts too!

All of the classes are very similar and depending on the instructor may change a little.  The only thing I didn’t like about The Bar Method was it seemed almost every single class was identical.  My favorite instructor was Tonya, she is really sweet and will correct you without making you feel like you were doing anything wrong.  I also noticed Tonya’s classes were different than other instructors and her classes changed daily.

I would without a doubt recommend The Bar Method!  It is only $10 for 10 days go try it!!!  You will thank me later, feel the shake!

I am rating The Bar Method 4 out of 5 stars.

  • 1 Star   – Hated it
  • 2 Stars – Could take it or leave it
  • 3 Stars – Liked it
  • 4 Stars – Really Liked it
  • 5 Stars – Loved it

Fun & Free Tuesday

by

Tuesday is a great day to save money on some really fun things.  Take the kids to see Ice Age Continental Drift for free at the Krikorian at 10:00 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.  If your kids have seen that movie there is also Caroline or ParaNorman playing at Edwards San Marcos and the Oceanside Regal (or any other Edward or Regal Theaters) for only $1.  Not feeling a movie?  Check out free bowling at AMF for kids, they get two free games each per day.

Don’t forget Free Museum Tuesday!  Almost every museum in San Diego is free at least once during the month.  Another amazing thing about living here is we get to take advantage of these great museums without having to spend any money!  The third Tuesday of the month the following museums are free:

Happy Tuesday!

Take the Pony Express to the Races!

by

Del Mar

Traffic in Southern California is brutal in the summer and getting to the Del Mar Racetrack is not always fun. Unless you take the Pony Express!  Not only will you be able to enjoy getting there (as you can drink on the coaster) but you won’t get stuck in horrible traffic.  Parking at the Del Mar Racetrack is $10 for general parking or $20 for valet.  There is no better way to get there (unless by limo) and the Pony Express ticket includes your admission to the races.

Every race day, after Opening Day throughout the 2013 Del Mar Racing Season July 17 – Sept. 4, you can purchase the Pony Express combination ticket for just $11, which includes Stretch Run Admission (regularly $6) and round-trip COASTER fare (regularly $11) and a free shuttle between the Solana Beach COASTER Station and the track. That’s a 35% SAVINGS!  You’ll also save $10 in parking fees. The one-day ticket is valid every race day, except opening day. It also includes rides on the SPRINTER light rail and BREEZE bus service.

Making it easier than any ever before the Pony Express may be purchased in advance online, or with the new mobile app and in the ticket vending machines in every NCTD transit station by selecting the “Current Promotions” button.

Xtend Barre by the Sea… Is it for you?

by

A few months ago I decided I was going to get my booty back in shape!  I was not paid to write this, I was not given free classes in exchange for writing this, I am in no way affiliated with any of the places I am writing about.  This is part one of my experiences at Xtend Barre by the Sea, Fit in 60, The Bar Method and BodyRok.

My friend Rita had been telling me how much she loved Xtend Barre by the Sea where she has been a member for a while.  She finally convinced me to go to a class with her early one Tuesday morning.  The first class is always free for new members, and who can say no to free?  Not this girl!

I am not going to lie the classes are hard, very hard, but in my opinion worth it!  It really is a love hate relationship, I hate how hard the classes are but love what they do to my body.  About half way through the first class I felt like I was going to throw up!  I know that sounds horrible, and I’ll be honest it wasn’t fun but I pushed through it. The next day I knew I would be sore, but I really had no idea I could be so sore it hurt to walk!  I was sore in areas of my body I had never been sore in (the top of my booty was sore, what muscle is that?)  After a few days as crazy as it may sound I noticed a change in my body, from one class!  I noticed my butt looked lifted and my body as a whole seemed longer (all 5’2 of me.)

At first I could only go once a week at first, then twice a week by the end I did 3 classes in one week!  The biggest changes were loss of belly fat and a higher lifted booty!  Xtend Barre by the Sea has different class types, I only did the Xtend Barre classes and a Piloxing class and I enjoyed both.  I would definitely recommend Xtend Barre, go give it a try… remember the first class is free so what have you got to lose?

I give Xtend Barre by the Sea 4 out of 5 stars.

  • 1 Star   – Hated it
  • 2 Stars – Could take it or leave it
  • 3 Stars – Liked it
  • 4 Stars – Really Liked it
  • 5 Stars – Loved it
